Residents' anger over shelter plan

A proposed shelter for small children who take part in a schoolwalking bus was the centre of a fierce and emotive debate inAxbridge Town Hall.

Consideration was being given by the town council to the buildingof a shelter on land owned by Hale Events in the Meadow Street carpark in the town. The fierce exchanges took place during the sectionwhere members of the public could raise issues with the council onMonday of last week.

Several residents of Read's Garden were particularly concernedabout the possibility that the shelter would be taken over byteenagers at night who would only cause trouble.
